Follow our step-by-step process. You can save your progress during the application process and return to it later if you need to. 

Ready to get started? You can open your new account via our online portal and save your progress as you go. It takes about 20 minutes to complete the application.  

Before you start applying for your retirement account, there’s a few things you should have prepared.

You’ll need the following items to set up your account:

  • Bank account details for where you’d like your income payments to go.
  • Superannuation account details from which to transfer your super savings into your new retirement account.
  • Two forms of identification to verify your identity, such as a valid Australian driver’s licence or passport.
  • Tax file number for the purposes of identification when rolling over from an external fund.
  • A digital copy of your bank statement to confirm the bank account that we will pay your income to.

Opening an account means moving at least $25,000 from your super account into your Retirement Income account, so have your super account details ready. Just remember, you can’t add more money to a Retirement Income account after you’ve opened it.

You can choose how often you’d like your payments and how much. A minimum annual drawdown amount applies, based on your age. You can opt for payments fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, or once or twice a year.

One last thing to consider is nominating a beneficiary. That’s who you’d like to receive your account balance when you die. If you’re not sure who that is or would like more time to research the options available, it’s ok to skip this step for now and nominate someone later.
