Our leadership team

Meet the Directors

The Trustee Board for Equip consists of 9 directors: 3 member directors, 3 employer directors and 3 independent directors.

The Board appoints one of the independent directors as Chair. The directors must be qualified to hold office in accordance with relevant legislation. The maximum tenure for a director is 12 years (four terms).

  • Danny Casey, BCom, MEcon, CPA

    Chair of the Board / Independent Director

    Danny is the Chair of the Trustee Board, having previously served as the Independent Deputy Chair. Prior to this, Danny was the Catholic Super Board Chair for two years. Danny has extensive experience as a senior executive and management consultant with private and public sector organisations, as well as not-for-profits, in Australia and overseas.

    Danny has strong expertise and knowledge in investments, strategic thinking and finance and audit, having served on many boards and committees, including the Finance Council of the Archdiocese of Sydney, the Board of the University of Notre Dame Australia, the Catholic Cemeteries Board and the Catholic Development Fund. Danny’s professional career includes senior executive roles with Energy Australia, Ernst & Young, Lend Lease as well as leadership of a commercial law firm. As a management consultant and advisor, he has also assisted businesses and not-for-profit organisations on strategy and governance.

    Danny is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) with a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from the University of NSW and a Master of Economics (MEcon) from Macquarie University.

  • Penny Davy-Whyte, BA (Mktg & Comm), GAIST

    Independent Director

    Penny brings a focus on digital marketing strategy to the board. She has previously held a number of senior management positions, including her most recent role leading the Australian Federal Government’s media communications agency. Penny brings a breadth of expertise across traditional and digital communication and a thorough understanding of evolving technologies to the Fund.

  • Justine Hickey, BCom, F FIN, GAICD

    Independent Director

    Justine is a professional non-executive director with over 24 years' experience in investments, superannuation and corporate governance.  She chairs the board of fund manager, DNR Capital. Previously, she was a director of the GPT Metro Office Fund, Australian Ethical Investment Ltd, Flagship Investments Ltd and an expert member of Sunsuper’s Investment Committee. Justine takes an active interest in the not for profit sector and is a director of RSPCA QLD. She has a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of FINSIA (Financial Services Institute of Australasia) and an Associate of the CFA Institute. She is also a member of the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia (RIAA).

  • Jan Dekker, BSc, LLMEnv, GradCertAppFin & Investment, GAICD

    Member Director

    Jan is an experienced director and CEO, with over 16 years' of board level experience in the funds management and commercial sectors, with strong expertise in risk management. As founder and managing director of Cleantech Ventures, Jan successfully raised and managed two venture capital funds - the Centre for Energy and Greenhouse Technologies Fund and the Cleantech Australia Fund. Previously he held various executive roles with the NSW Government. Jan has a Master’s Degree in law (Environmental) (LLMEnv) from Sydney University, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Postgraduate Diploma of Environmental Studies (Macquarie University), as well as post graduate qualifications in financial management from FINSIA. He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

  • David Doolan, BBus (Acc), MAICD, TFASFA

    Member Director

    David holds more than 25 years’ experience in corporate treasury and finance, including extensive financial markets experience. He has worked for a number of global corporations across a diverse range of industries, including mining, automotive, financial services and manufacturing. David brings a wealth of knowledge to his role as Member Director, having previously been a Member Director of Rio Tinto’s former Superannuation fund. David has a Bachelor of Business in Accounting, is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD) and an Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia accredited Trustee Fellow (TFASFA), for his former role with Rio Tinto’s Superannuation fund.

  • Matthew Cassin, MBA, BCom

    Member Director

    Matthew has 25 years’ experience within the banking and finance industry, including executive level roles at the Catholic Development Fund and Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Throughout his professional career, Matthew has developed strong expertise in fund administration, investment management, strategic development, and risk management. He holds a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Commerce and is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Catholic Leadership and Culture, at the Australian Catholic University.

    • Mark Cerche, B. Juris LLB (Hons)

      Employer Director

      Mark has more than 35 years’ experience in superannuation, estate planning and administration, elder law, funds management, corporate and securities law. He retired as a partner of Allens after 36 years and continues in practice as a sole practitioner. Mark is a Member of the Law Council of Australia's Superannuation Committee. He holds a B. Juris LLB (Hons) from Monash University, a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours.

    • Sharife Rahmani, BCom, BEcon, GCertPA, GAICD

      Employer Director

      Sharife brings over 15 years’ experience in the banking and finance industries, with a large focus on life insurance and superannuation. In a range of senior Executive roles at Energy Safe Victoria, Sharife has delivered governance, stakeholder engagement and regulatory effectiveness and he has a strong interest in the optimisation of organisational culture. Sharife holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Statistics), Bachelor of Economics, a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and has undertaken a Senior Executive Integrity and Ethical Leadership Program with the Institute of Public Administration Australia.

    • Simone Thompson, BA/LLB, FASFA, FGIA

      Employer Director

      Simone brings to the Trustee Board extensive experience in governance, risk management and compliance. She is Managing Director of ST Consult Pty Ltd, a boutique consultancy specialising in providing tailored and pragmatic governance, compliance, risk management advice and services to APRA and ASIC regulated entities.

This team leads the day-to-day operations of the business to ensure reliable and consistent delivery of products, services and communications to members and employers.

  • Scott Cameron

    Chief Executive Officer

    Scott Cameron was appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Equipsuper and Catholic Super in 2019. Under Scott’s leadership, these existing, strong and well-established organisations have come together to continue to build on and create a significant profit-to-member superannuation fund. He has overseen considerable growth during his time in the role, with the completion of successor fund transfers for Toyota Super and BOC Super in 2021.

    He has extensive experience working across global corporate, financial services and advisory environments with a track record of integrating and expanding highly complex settings.

    Prior to Equipsuper and Catholic Super, Scott was CEO of Computershare (Australia and New Zealand region), where he also jointly led Computershare’s Global Diversity initiative. Prior to Computershare, Scott was the Chief Financial Officer for Computershare’s Asia-Pacific region. Scott was a Partner at EY before joining Computershare.

    Scott holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a Chartered Accountant.

  • Marc Pizzichetta

    Chief Financial Officer

    Marc Pizzichetta is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with strategic oversight of finance, technology, property and procurement. Marc was appointed to the joint venture role after serving as CFO for CSF Pty Ltd. In a career leading multi-disciplined teams across finance, superannuation, wealth management, investment and technology, Marc held the CFO reins at Kinetic Super and Victorian Funds Management Corporation. In addition to these executive roles, he also worked at Aviva and KPMG.

    Marc is a chartered accountant, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has an MBA from Monash Business School.

  • Alexis Harrison

    Chief Member Officer

    Alexis' portfolio includes the Experience, Retirement, Product and Insights & Design functions, and as Chief Member Officer she is responsible for delivering outstanding experiences for our members and employers. Alexis has over 20 years' experience in the financial services sector, with the last 10 spent in superannuation.  

    She is a progressive and innovative senior leader with a strategic, results-driven approach to driving commercial success. Alexis has an agile approach to optimising outcomes and delivering highly successful end-to-end experiences.

    Most recently Alexis held senior leadership positions at VicSuper and Bell Potter Securities and holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

  • Andrew Howard

    Chief Investment Officer

    Andrew is the Chief Investment Officer and is responsible for leading the investment strategy and portfolio management for the Equip Fund. Andrew holds over 25 years’ experience in the investment industry, including extensive knowledge across all aspects of investment management, including investment strategy and portfolio construction.

    Prior to joining Equip in November 2021, Andrew previously worked in senior leadership positions including Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Hostplus and Chief Investment Officer at VicSuper. In his earlier career he held roles at Mercer, Treasury Group and Frontier. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Business from Deakin University and a Graduate Diploma, Applied Finance and Investments from FINSIA and is also a Fellow of FINSIA.

  • Natalie Alford

    Executive Officer, Governance and Risk

    Natalie's portfolio of responsibilities includes the risk and compliance, legal and company secretarial functions. She joined Equip from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), where she was a manager in the Specialised Institutions Division, leading analysts in the prudential supervision and risk assessment of large and complex industry funds.

    Natalie's qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from Bond University, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law in Melbourne and a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.

  • Ian Lancaster

    Executive Officer, Governance and Risk (Acting)

    Ian is the Executive Officer, Governance & Risk, with responsibility for leading the governance, legal, risk, and compliance teams at Equip. Ian was appointed in July 2022 to fill this important role, while Natalie Alford is on maternity leave from August 2022 to June 2023.

    Ian has over 40 years’ experience in the financial services industry and professional services firms.  This has provided extensive experience and a working knowledge across all aspects of banking, superannuation, investments and stockbroking.

    In his previous role as Principal Advisor at Proximity, Ian supported Equip in the development of the Project Management  and Change Management Plan for the Process Controls & Design (Three Lines of Accountability Program).  Ian has previously held roles as the General Manager, Trustee Services at ESSSuper, and Chief Risk Officer at IOOF Group. Ian’s earlier experience included significant roles as Partner at Ernst & Young and executive roles with the ANZ Banking Group.

    Ian holds a Bachelor of Economics; Graduate Diploma, Applied Finance and Investments (FINSIA), Graduate Diploma Business (Banking), and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

    Ian is a professional membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Global Association of Risk Professionals; and was previously a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

  • Anna Papile

    Executive Officer, Strategic Operations and Delivery

    Anna is responsible for the end to end delivery of services and administration to the funds’ employers and members. She is a highly experienced, dynamic and results driven executive with strong leadership skills, with over 25 years’ experience and business acumen in the areas of business transformation, operational excellence and client relationship management. A customer focused, strategic thinker with a proven ability to lead and successfully execute major projects and transformational change programs.

    Most recently, Anna was the Regional Director of Operations for Computershare and over many years has led significant projects internally and client-driven business improvement, including leading all aspects of the business migration of the Australian Operations into a Global Service Model. She was also responsible for implementing Portfolio Management within the Australia & New Zealand business. Anna holds a number of management disciplines, such as Transformation practices inc. Lean Six Sigma, Project & Portfolio Mgt and Change Mgt.

  • Andrew Vogt

    Executive Officer, Financial Planning

    Andrew is responsible for the enhancement, management and oversight of the Financial Planning function for the Equip and Catholic Super funds. He holds a proven track record in building and leading financial services businesses through periods of significant change and transformation and is driven to deliver members an experience that puts their best financial interests first. With 20 years’ experience, Andrew has held a number of senior leadership roles in financial planning, including organisations such as State Plus, First State Super and Health Super respectively.

    Andrew holds a Diploma of Financial Planning, is a certified Financial Planner and is presently
    undertaking a Master in Organisational Leadership at Melbourne Business School.

  • Charlie Yanni

    Executive Officer, Employer Relationships and Growth

    Charlie is the Executive Officer, Employer Relationships and Growth and is responsible for identifying and pursuing the Inorganic Growth Strategy, and leading the teams who support both Equip and Catholic Super employers. Charlie joined Equip in August 2018, following a long career in the finance industry from 2004. He has a strong history of supporting corporates with their superannuation arrangements. Prior to his time at Equip, he also worked for REST Industry Super and LUCRF Super. Charlie holds a Bachelor of Business Law from Monash University.

  • Brent Retallick

    Executive officer, Transformation and Technology

    Brent Retallick is the Executive officer of Transformation and Technology, a role that is responsible for supporting the future growth of the fund. Brent joined Equip in November 2020, to develop the transformation roadmap and support the fund in achieving its strategic growth objectives after the fund’s joint venture with Catholic Super, and a series of SFTs.

    Brent has extensive experience in leading customer and operations transformations in financial services, energy and resources. Brent brings a wealth of experience to Equip, and a background of making sure change programs deliver exceptional customer experiences and drive positive outcomes for organisations.

    Brent holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University.
